Weddings at All Saints Church, Glazebury

Picture
Congratulations on your decision to get married.

We are delighted you would like to celebrate your wedding at All Saints Church, Glazebury. We are a small village church that seats about 100 people.

The first thing you must do is to see if the church is free on the day you wish to be married. Please ring Reverand Pat Gray to find out available dates; 01942 603161

To be eligible to be married in All Saints, one of you must reside in the parish. If you are unsure about which parish you live in, visit
www.achurchnearyou.com. Enter your postcode and then click on your road in the map and it will tell you which parish you belong to. If All Saints, Glazebury is not your parish church and you would still like to get married here because of family links etc or you are seeking a small village church with a welcoming congregation, you can become a member of the electoral roll by attending church regularly for 6 months.

If one of you resides in the parish, or is on the church electoral roll, you will meet the legal requirements prior to marriage by the calling of banns. Banns are called on three consecutive Sundays within three months of the wedding date in the parish churches of both bride and bridegroom.

You will be advised when this will be so that you may hear them. Banns are called at the 11am Family Communion Service on a Sunday morning. If you do not meet the legal requirements for banns, it may be possible for you to apply for a licence to be married at All Saints Church. Special fees apply for licences.

All Saints welcomes couples who have made a conscious choice to seek out a church wedding. If one or both of you have been divorced, there are different considerations and the decision to go ahead with a wedding in church will depend on the guidelines set by the Church of England in these matters. However, many couples have been married at All Saints Glazebury where one or both have been previously married and divorced.

Baptisms at All Saints Church, Glazebury

Picture
We hope that we can help to celebrate the birth of your child with a Baptism in church. Baptisms can either take place during our Family Communion Service at 11am or at 2pm on most Sunday afternoons by arrangement with the curate.

All families who live in the parish are welcome to have their child baptized in All Saints Church. Other families who have links with the parish through marriage and through other family members are welcome to discuss baptism for their child with the curate. There is no fee for a baptism.

In the Baptism Service parents and godparents make a public commitment to follow Christ and promise to bring their children up in the family of the Church.

Normally there are two godfathers and one godmother for a boy; two godmothers and one godfather for a girl. Parents may also be godparents if they wish.

We normally need four weeks notice from the time you send in your completed application form to the curate. Please make initial enquiries by telephone to Rev Pat Gray; 01942 603161 or via our contact page.

Your whole family, together with your friends, is welcome to attend the service. Please don’t worry about your baby crying or being noisy during the service – we are used to that and it causes no problems. We have a Sunday Group for children aged 3-plus which older children are welcome to attend if the baptism service seems long.

We also encourage you to consider sending your child to our church school; Glazebury Church of England School. You may wish to contact the head-teacher, Mrs. Elaine Morgan;(01925 763234).

Confirmation at All Saints Church, Glazebury

Picture
Confirmation is a special moment in the life of any Christian. At Confirmation you say for yourself promises that were made for you at baptism by your parents or godparents. You become a member of God’s church in baptism and now you are discovering more about your faith when you are confirmed.

Children who are in year 6 of Junior School are invited to consider Confirmation, as are older children and adults. Confirmation classes begin each September. We will think about what it means to be called by name, what it means to witness for Christ and how to explore your faith through questions and challenges. Every year at least 10 children and 4
adults form the parish decide to take this important step in their faith journey.

Please contact the curate in charge Rev’d Pat Gray if you would like to consider Confirmation: 01942 603161
